New Year New You: Take On Trends In 2018

With each new year comes hopes for the future and resolutions to make the dream a reality. Most resolutions focus on prosperity, health, and happiness, but at Front Door Fashion we think your personal style and the image you project as a result deserve equal billing. Each week through the month of  January we will be posting a New Year New You fashion resolution to help you up your style game in 2018. Addressing current trends is a must for anyone who wants to look modern and fresh…and who doesn’t?

Repeat after me: “In 2018, fashion trends will not intimidate me.” We believe that the best way to approach trends is by remembering one word: wearability. That avant-garde piece from the runway is WAY too much for the office, but when viewed as an inspiration it can guide your own personal 9 to 5 style in the new year! We’ve gathered several looks below that nod to the trends and can take your wardrobe from drab to fab in 2018.

Lavender Lovely

The spring 2018 runways were filled with shades of lavender and lilac in feminine silhouettes. After all, Pantone just declared Ultra Violet as the color of 2018. This makes lavender particularly desirable because it is more wearable than its punch-of-purple cousin. Rock this shade by keeping it simple. Pair a lavender tank with a leather cropped jacket in a similar hue to make an impact without going overboard. Add a skinny jean, a pump, and a simple necklace to bring this hue to life. You’ll impress even your most stylish friends over dinner with this ensemble.

Fabulous Florals

Florals and spring go hand in hand, and the trend for 2018 is to wear them loud and proud! To translate this trend into real life, choose a floral pattern that works with your shape. A floral with a predominantly solid background (like black) provides a slimming effect. We added a dangle hoop earring to reinforce the 60’s feel of this Trina Turk dress and a statement shoe to make it all pop.

Dark Denim Dreams

Don’t store away your winter denim just yet. Dark denim is here and it wants your full attention this spring. Pair a simple dark wash skinny jean with a white sweater and layered necklaces for an easy, everyday look. Complete the look with riding boots and you will be channeling Chloe in the carpool line.

Fierce in Fringe

Spotted in the streets (and runways) again this year, fringe doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon in 2018. To step up your style at work, consider replacing your basic black blazer with a leather fringe jacket. Keep to neutrals when wearing fringe for an everyday look. Add a tee, delicate necklaces, and a classic pencil skirt and your style will receive a much-deserved promotion.
