Looking Chic but Feeling Cozy

This time of year is prime time for cozy clothes. With big holiday meals, colder temperatures, and warm fireplaces on the horizon, there’s nothing we want to wear more than the comfiest clothes possible. But that doesn’t mean we have to rotate our stylish pieces to the back of the closet to make room for our sweats–Fashion can be just as comfortable as it is chic! Read on for our stylists’ expert tips on balancing comfort with style.

Balancing comfort and style is all about finding pieces that make you feel good! With the changing of seasons, I love elevating a cozy sweater with a chic coat and adding fun accessories. Also, mixing structured and relaxed pieces together creates a polished and balanced look, without making you feel confined or stuffy. The trick is to mix structured, sophisticated pieces with relaxed items—think a chunky knit paired with sleek trousers or a structured coat over a slouchy sweater. This creates a beautifully balanced silhouette that feels cozy but looks chic.

For me, comfort begins with a good base. I like to keep the base of my outfits simple – a good pair of jeans and fitted sweater or fitted knit dress with semi opaque stockings and a low-heeled boot are great “outfit recipes” for finding comfort in a cute outfit.

I’m also a huge fan of layering outerwear for maximum versatility. Layering outerwear pieces over lighter-weight fabrics not only adds depth to the outfit, but also keeps things interesting… plus it adds warmth!

For this time of year, I love styling relaxed sweaters with elevated pants, jeans, and jackets. Don’t forget to play with accessories! A chunky scarf (they’re making a big comeback!) or a sleek leather handbag can take a comfy outfit to the next level. Accessories like these add warmth and texture while maintaining a fashion-forward vibe. The result is an outfit that feels cozy, but with just the right amount of style.

I love this time of year because I finally get to style cozy pieces! I normally pair those oversized sweaters we all know and love with tights and boots for an instantly cool look that still allows you to move comfortably. Whether you’re running errands or going to a get-together with friends, outfits like this allow you to feel relaxed but still chic.
