It’s somewhat surprising that even in 2018, men still dominate top positions of most major brands in the fashion industry. At Front Door Fashion, a company owned and founded by women, we always enjoy introducing fabulous new brands to our customers, but it’s especially exciting when we discover brands that are owned by women and led by women! Today, we wanted to share a little bit about the beginning of our own company and introduce you to two Dallas apparel companies founded and owned by women who are manufacturing beautiful product in the United States.
Front Door Fashion
Front Door Fashion CEO and co-founder, Nina Lowe, started Front Door Fashion because she was the customer. Lowe grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and built a successful career in medical device sales after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin. She had always wanted to start a business. When she found herself with in need of a personal stylist, she realized there was a huge opportunity. “I didn’t have the time or the talent to pull together outfits I felt confident in, and I was constantly disappointed with the customer service I received (or lack thereof) when I would go out shopping at the mall and needed help. When I tried other box styling services, they did not help my problem of needing ‘outfits’ and also didn’t have the level of customer service I felt a service should offer.”
Lowe saw a need in the marketplace and ran with it! She wanted an elevated box service that catered to her busy lifestyle without the hassle of shopping. Five years later, Front Door Fashion is still headquartered in Dallas and continues to grow at a rapid pace. Front Door Fashion is proud to employ 34 women, and we style about 1,000 women each month who live across the country.
Finley: Crisp and Clean 
Finley Moll is an American fashion designer who was raised and educated in Texas. She and Heather McNeill met while working for a sportswear label in Dallas. When the label closed it’s doors in 1994, the friends found themselves out of work but full of ideas and energy that resulted in the launching of the Finley company.
Company owners Finley Moll, Marty Washington and Heather McNeill are proud of their philosophy: “to provide a crisp, clean answer to a trendy world.” Finley designs and manufactures in Dallas which gives them incredible quality control. The Front Door Fashion stylists are literally in love with Finley’s fantastic classic white blouses, seasonal speciality blouses and their amazing shirt dress options.
Southcott: Your Answer to the Perfect White Tee
Amy Graham grew up in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from SMU with a BA in Finance. Amy then attended the University of Southern California, receiving her MBA in Marketing. In January of 2015, she decided to pursue her own business. Quickly identifying a need in the marketplace for a good quality t-shirt that was both flattering and comfortable, Amy founded Southcott Threads. Southcott, based in Dallas and manufactured in LA, is the answer to your long hunt for the perfect white tee! Their classic white tee is not see-through at all. The fabric, a bamboo stretch cotton, is ultra soft. Our favorite things about Southcott are the quality and named silhouettes. Southcott t-shirts and dresses can be washed over and over again with no pilling.
